Program-Specific Criteria
The criteria specific to our department are listed below:
1. Ability to define the fundamental concepts and terms of psychology; to possess theoretical knowledge along with diverse approaches and perspectives.
2. Understanding the position of psychology as a scientific discipline; knowing how it examines behavioral and mental processes from a historical perspective and through which methods.
3. Knowledge of the general history of psychology and familiarity with related disciplines.
4. Ability to establish connections between the topics of psychology and other scientific fields.
5. Knowledge of the main emphases of fundamental theoretical approaches (behavioral, biological, cognitive, evolutionary, humanistic, psychodynamic, and sociocultural).
6. Familiarity with application areas relevant to one’s interests, forming a foundation for specialization training.
7. Knowledge of the basic principles of psychological assessment.
8. Possessing basic knowledge of commonly used measurement tools in the field and fundamental interviewing skills necessary for applications in different subfields of psychology.
9. Ability and experience in designing research in psychology, collecting data, interpreting findings, reporting results, and discussing outcomes.
10. Possessing a scientific mindset along with learning, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
11. Knowledge of ethical principles and values in psychology, ethical practices, and forms of scientific inquiry.
