Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Muş Alparslan University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, commenced its undergraduate education and training activities in the 2021–2022 academic year. The department comprises the following divisions: Applied Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Psychology of Spirituality. The department currently continues its academic activities with one Professor, one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professors (Dr. Faculty Members), one Lecturer (PhD), and three Research Assistants.
Graduates of the program are awarded the title of “Psychologist.” They have a wide range of employment opportunities across various sectors, including institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of National Education. These include hospitals, universities, nurseries and kindergartens, nursing homes, correctional facilities, family courts, psychotechnical assessment centers, special education institutions, rehabilitation centers, counseling centers, research centers, as well as positions in industry and organizations, human resources, advertising, and media sectors.
To graduate from the program, students are required to successfully complete a total of 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits. The undergraduate program in Psychology is conducted in Turkish, offered as a full-time program, and designed to be completed within four years.
The mission of our department is to educate psychologists who, grounded in scientific knowledge, possess strong theoretical foundations in both general psychology and its specialized subfields; are competent in applied settings; can follow current developments in the psychological literature; are capable of conducting scientific research and publishing; and adhere to ethical principles in both practice and research.
The vision of our department is to become, within the next decade, a leading academic unit that graduates individuals capable of competently applying contemporary psychological knowledge within an ethical framework at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and that contributes to the advancement of modern psychology through its graduate education and scientific research activities.
